3 Questions To Utilize To Get You Closer To Your Dreams
Every single day on my way to work, I listen to Bob Proctor's message because what he has to say reinforces the possibility of my dreams and goals. You might know Bob Proctor from the movie, "The Secret" and he is one of the leading experts today in achieving human potential.
In one of his seminars, Bob tells a story of a man with a successful engineering company that did about $10 million dollars in revenue each year. Unfortunately the man dies unexpectedly. Naturally, the ownership of the company is transferred to his wife. Although everyone thought that she would sell the company because she was never involved with the operations of it, she didn't sell it.
What she did was gathered all the heads of the department and asked the 3 questions to them.
1. What are you doing? 2. What does work? 3. What doesn't work? She only came in to have meetings from time to time to just ask these questions. Every time she had those meetings she told them to focus on what does work and to drop what doesn't work. In the next couple of years she took the company from doing $10 million a year to $25 million a year! Now imagine what if that's all you did in your life? To focus on what does work and to drop what doesn't work. Here are the 3 questions again: 1. What are you doing? 2. What does work? 3. What doesn't work? Here's a bonus question that can be supplemental when analyzing your own efforts and actions.
"What haven't you done yet?" I'm adding this question because sometimes we work and work and work, and yes we are getting results, but have you ever considered doing things that you haven't done yet so that you can take your results to a different level? In addition to doing what does work, you have to be willing to expand beyond your comfort zone. Look, technology is changing and advancing real fast, and while what you're doing now is still working, there might be more efficient ways to achieve the results you want. Just look at Blockbuster, Xerox, Kodak, and the list can go on. Now, I don't think I'd have to explain further the power of this, you go ahead and take these 3 questions plus the bonus question, to help you redirect your actions to bring about more fruitful results.
